    February 24, 1909: August Derleth was born on this date in Sauk City. Derleth, one of Wisconsin's best known authors, wrote more than 150 books. Most of his stories depicted small town life in Sac Prairie, the setting he created by merging Sauk City and Prairie du Sac. Died: July 4, 1971.
